Vietnam Coffee Day 2019 in full swing in Central Highlands, Gia Lai province

HANOI, Vietnam — Local and foreign firms in the coffee industry gathered for a trading conference in the central highlands province of Gia Lai on Monday. The conference was among activities held to mark the 3rd “Vietnam Coffee Day”.

The event is held between Sunday and Tuesday under the theme “Coffee enjoying culture”. It is co-organised by the Gia Lai People’s Committee, the Vietnam Cocoa Coffee Association (Vicofa) and the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency.

The opening ceremony on Sunday was attended by representatives representatives of the International Coffee Organisation (ICO), the China Coffee Association (CCA) and member enterprises; theSoutheast Asia Coffee Federation (ACF) and the Brazilian Coffee Exporters Council; as well as Ambassadors and foreign trade counselors to Vietnam.

Addressing the ceremony, Kpăh Thuyên, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Gia Lai Province and Head of the organising board, said: Vietnam Coffee Day is not only an opportunity to exchange and meet with growing and processing enterprises, as well as coffee-trading businesses at home and abroad.

According to the organising board, this year’s programme emphasises consumer appreciation culture and has organised in a series of events.

The event also featured an exhibition on various coffee products from six top coffee producing provinces of Gia Lai, Đắk Lắk, Đắk Nông, Lâm Đồng, Kon Tum and Sơn La.

Hundreds of stalls displayed premium products from popular coffee brands like Vinacafe, L’amant, Nestlé, and Kingcoffee.

Gerando Patacconi, Head of operations at the International Coffee Organisation said: “Vietnam has become a leading member of ICO and is now the second largest coffee producer and exporter in the world.”

He added: “Vietnam is one of the most successful countries in the field of coffee.”
