Brazil’s coffee exports fell 22 percent in November to 3.1 mln bags, reports Cecafe

MILAN – Brazil ‘s exports of coffee in all forms for the month of November fell 20.2% to 3,113,846 bags reports the exporters association Cecafe in its monthly figures. Green coffee volumes went down to 2,801,323 bags, or a 22.1% decrease on year.

Exports of Arabicas and Robustas were 22.8% and 13.1% down to 2,596,629 and 204.694 bags respectively. Exports of processed coffee rose 2.4% to 312,523 bags.

Cecafe have indicated that Brazil harvested a smaller crop in 2019 when compared to the record crop in 2018 and due to this, supply of high-quality export-type coffees were smaller.

During the first four months of the July to June crop year in Brazil, exports of coffee in all forms rose slightly (+0.2%) to 17,030,304 bags.

Exports of green coffee were substantially unchanged at 15,342,466 bags. Shipments of Arabicas were 1.2% down to 13,368,297, while Robusta volumes were 9.3% higher at 1,974,169 bags.

Exports during the January – November period totalled 37,449,927 bags, still 18.4% higher on year.

Shipments of green coffee reached a new high of 33,753,717 bags. Arabica exports were 16.1% higher at 30,139,298 bags. Robusta volumes surged 56.3% to 3,614,419 bags.

Exports of processed coffee rose by 9.6% to 3,696,210 bags.

The United States, Germany and Italy were the main destinations, followed by Japan, Belgium and Turkey, said Cecafe.
