Ico Trade Statistics: World coffee exports strongly down on year in November

LONDON, UK – World coffee exports amounted to 9.31 million bags in November 2019, compared with 10.22 million in November 2018, down 10.8% on year. Exports of Arabicas were sharply down (-14%) to 5.774 million bags.

All coffee groups saw their volumes plummeting. Shipments of Colombian Milds, Other Milds and Brazilian Naturals fell by 7.6%, 14% and 16.3% respectively. On the other hand, Robusta exports were slightly up (+0.7%) to 3.536 million bags.

World coffee exports in the first 2 months of coffee year 2019/20 (Oct/19 to Sept/20) decreased by 10.8% to 18.3 million bags compared to 20.51 million bags in the same period in 2018/19.

Arabica exports were 11% down on year to 11.925 million bags. Among Arabicas, Colombian Milds recorded a 2.2% increase, Other Milds and Brazilian Naturals a 17.7% and 12.6% decrease.

Robusta exports fell 10.5% to 6.372 million bags.

Exports from Brazil and Vietnam fell by 15.9% and 27.6%, reports the ICO. Colombia increased its shipments by 3.1% to 2.374 million bags. Indonesia posted an impressive +162.4% increase on year to 980,000 bags.

World coffee exports in the last 12 months

In the twelve months ending November 2019, exports of Arabicas totalled 83.22 million bags compared to 77.08 million bags last year; whereas Robusta exports amounted to 46.01 million bags compared to 44.96 million bags.
