MILAN – Brazil ’s coffee production for CY 2020/21 is expected to rise significantly from 2019/20, but it will probably fall short of the record crop harvested in 2018, the previous on-year in the biennial Arabica cycle.

In its first official estimate released on Thursday, the country’s National Supply Company pegged production between 57.15 and 62.02 million bags, from 49.3 million bags in 2019.

Arabica coffee production, influenced by above-mentioned two-year cycle, is expected to surge by 26% to 34.1% reaching between 43.2 and 46 million bags, missing in both cases the record crop of 47.48 million bags reaped in 2018.

Robusta production is pegged by Conab between 13.9 and 16 million bags versus 15 million in 2019.

Productivity is seen by the Agency between 30.31 and 32.89 bags per hectare compared to 27.20 in 2019/20 and 33.07 in 2018/19.
