LONDON – The Council accepts the proposal by the Italian Government to hold the 115th Session of the International Coffee Council in Milan, Italy, in September 2015 on the occasion of EXPO MILANO.
The Council notes with appreciation the Italian Government’s will to host on the same occasion, in agreement with the European Union, a Global Coffee Forum with the participation of the Members of the International Coffee Organization (ICO).
4th Consultative Forum
The 4th Consultative Forum on Coffee Sector Finance will take place at the ICO headquarters in London during the week of 22 to 26 September 2014, chaired by Mr Juan Esteban Orduz of Colombia.
The topic of the 4th Forum will be ‘How producing countries can engage effectively with financial multilateral institutions and donors, and ensure that financing from those organizations meets the needs of producers’.
Projects
A new coffee development project has been approved for submission to the Common Fund for Commodities: Improving the participation of women in the coffee value chain in Cameroon.
International Coffee Day
The International Coffee Council agreed to hold an International Coffee Day each year on 1 October. The 1st International Coffee Day will take place on 1 October 2015, at the time of the International Coffee Council
The International Coffee Day will provide an opportunity to raise the profile of coffee and publicize activities connected with coffee and the coffee industry.
The ICO will be present at the launch of the International Coffee Day in Expo Milano.
The 2014 Minas Gerais Drought
The International Coffee Council received an interesting presentation Peter Baker (Cabi) and Ramiro Ruiz Cárdenas (Federal University of Minas Gerais) on the drought in Brazil.
