Adelaide company Urban Brew is leading the way when it comes to environmentally-friendly coffee pods. Developed back in 2011, owner Toby Strong launched Australia’s first Nespresso-compatible pods.
He made them cheap, ethically-sourced and biodegradable.
“Biodegradable pods have been around for years but they’ve never really taken off because people don’t want to pay for this or simply can’t afford to,”, Strong said.
So Urban Brew’s response?
They’ve stripped back their costs to make sure everyone can afford to do the right thing.
Starting by going back to basics with the packaging.
Two big factors that set Urban Brew apart from the competition include:
- You’re buying direct from the producer so it’s super fresh and there’s no middleman jacking up the price
- They’ve got the smallest marketing budget in the world – they can’t even afford George Clooney’s lookalike!
“We’re going to rely entirely on wowing our customers so much with every single order they can’t help but tell their friends about it,” Strong said.
The coffee pods/capsules are 100 per cent compatible with Nespresso®, Caffitaly ® and K-fee®.
And as for the prices?
Pods range from 35c to 70c depending on how many you order.
