SÃO PAULO, Brazil – Andrea Illy, Chairman of illycaffè, presented for the first time at the University of São Paulo “ VirtuousAgriculture, a new R&D strategy for a regenerative and beneficial agriculture” on the occasion of the seminar & webinar organized annually by Università del Caffè Brazil, illycaffè, PENSA, FIA and Faculdade de Economia, Administração e Contabilidade/Universidade de São Paulo last Thursday.
This year’s title was “Disruptive technologies in coffee production”.
“Contributing to decarbonize the environment is my ultimate goal – and this innovative idea of VirtuousAgriculture represents one of the biggest opportunity for carbon sequestration – said Andrea Illy – but in order to make this agriculture more appealing for consumers it needs to deliver products which are both delicious and beneficial to health. Coffee is a great example of VirtuousAgriculture – continued Mr Illy – and Brazil is one of the world leading Countries in agriculture. Let’s start working from here.”
The presentation leads to a multi-year research program, which aims to identify correlations between regenerative agronomical practices and food benefits.
