MELBOURNE, Australia – Australia’s Richest Barista at MICE2021 will be a knock-out format, fast-paced competition designed to exhibit the country’s incredible barista talent to the Australian coffee industry, and the public. The winner will walk away with $35,000, second place $10,000 and third place $5,000.

The competition will take place over the three days of MICE2021 from 9 to 11 September, with baristas to compete in three intense head-to-head rounds that test their overall practical and sensory skills.

The first day will see baristas face off in 10-minute mini barista competitions, preparing espressos, lattes, and alternative milk drinks.

Half the baristas will move on to the latte art smackdown on day two.

The final day will be a cup tasting competition. Over three rounds, competitors will see who can more accurately, and most quickly, find the odd coffee out of groups of three.

The winner will be the last barista standing who has achieved excellence in all rounds of coffee preparation and tasting.

Registration will open on Thursday 1 July.

MICE2021 will take place from 9 to 11 September 2021.
