CAMBERWELL, Victoria – Brumby ’s Bakery has announced an exclusive partnership with Ferrero Australia and its famous brand, Nutella, Australia’s third largest selling branded spread.

Launched this week and in stores until the end of Easter, Brumby ’s Easter range features freshly baked white Hot Cross Buns filled with a generous dollop of Nutella spread as part of its Easter range.

A hot cross bun is a spiced sweet bun made with currants or raisins and marked with a cross on the top, traditionally eaten on Good Friday in the UK, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, and Canada.

Proving the popularity of Nutella, several stores sold out of the new flavour on the first day of the promotion and have increased their daily baking production to meet growing demand for the Hot Cross Buns in the lead up to Easter.

As well as Traditional and Fruitless Hot Cross Buns, the new flavour will be sold as a single bun or a six pack.

Brumby’s Managing Director Kevin Waite said he was excited to reveal the bakery’s new flavour partner.

“I am excited to announce that Brumby’s has partnered with Ferrero Australia to bring customers a delicious new Hot Cross Bun flavour this Easter,” said Mr Waite.

“Brumby’s and Nutella have both been operating in Australia since the seventies, and have both become iconic Aussie brands.

Our bakers are delighted to be baking every day with a flavour they know and love, and we are excited to share our new Hot Cross Buns with our customers.”

Mr Waite said Brumby’s bakers had been training and perfecting their Hot Cross Buns since the start of the year, ensuring their product is perfect for the Easter season.

Brumby’s employs over 600 bakers across its 280 outlets nationwide, and it will be all hands on deck for the bakery’s busiest season. “Easter is by far the biggest season for Brumby ’s – we call the Thursday before Good Friday Bun Thursday because it is one of our biggest days of the year!” said Mr Waite.

“Our stores bake their Hot Cross Buns fresh daily using traditional scratch baking techniques, and they will be running their ovens at full steam from now until Easter to keep up with demand.

“We are anticipating that even people who wouldn’t traditionally eat Hot Cross Buns will be eager to try a bun with Nutella® so this could be our biggest year yet.”
