Australia’s specialty coffee company, Di Bella Coffee has won the ‘Coffee Roasters Industry Choice’ award, in the large specialty roaster category at the 2014 Golden Bean Competition – Australia’s most prestigious specialty coffee awards.
The Inaugural ‘Coffee Roasters Industry Choice’ awards are a national award across three categories (small, medium and large roasters), with a holistic approach to the judging criteria based on the success of the coffee roaster across all facets of their business. The judges are a mixture of industry peers who have been tasked with the responsibility of choosing a winning company in each category.
Phillip Di Bella said this award means a lot to Di Bella Coffee because it’s voted on by industry peers for overall business excellence, not just products. “To be recognised by our peers within the coffee industry is a great honour. We pride ourselves on exceptional service so we’re really happy that our colleagues have acknowledged our dedication and commitment from crop to cup.”
The Golden Bean competition judges both the cup quality in terms of flavour as well as the coffee roasting techniques of the roaster. Di Bella Coffee’s famous blends earned a sack full of bronze and silver medals across the decaffeinated, single origin, organic, chain espresso, chain latte and latte categories.
“We received 10 medals at this year’s competition! The award winning coffees included our Mexican decaffeinated, Peru Organic, Nero, Modena and Felici. We were also awarded with medals for our contract roasted coffee for Brunetti, Pie Face, In a Rush, Where’s Marcel, and Café 63” Phillip Di Bella said.
Phillip Di Bella said that producing award winning coffee is no mean feat in itself, as the overall quality of coffee submitted in the competition was of very high standard.
“We have a consistent track record at the Golden Bean, our signature Ali Reserve Blend won the prestigious Golden Bean title in 2009, from 2010 through to 2013. We have also secured 24 medals, and we are now adding another 10 medals from this year’s competition.
Our continued success at the Golden Bean Competition is testament to Di Bella Coffee’s philosophy that ‘From Crop to Cup… We Know Coffee’. Above all, it reinforces our commitment to ensuring that our customers receive high quality and consistent coffee.” Phillip Di Bella said.
