PARIS, France – On Thursday, December 16th at 2 p.m., the awards ceremony of the 7th “Coffees Roasted at Origin” International Contest AVPA-Paris 2021 took place virtually on AVPA Youtube channel. The 7th edition confirms the expectations of its founders.
More agricultural products are processed closer to their producers or by producers themselves, better is the quality of the finished products. Coffees which were cupped this year confirmed the exceptional quality which is improving each year for the pleasure of our jury.
The passion of participants is always here and even more laudable that the COVID-19 crisis could not shatter their determination to be part of this meeting. On the consumer side, the growing enthusiasm of young coffee lovers cannot be denied, even as machines makers are increasingly interested in these emerging markets.
Were present this year, the major coffee producing countries. The exception came from Mexican coffees which could not take part probably because of harvest calendar incompatibility. Brazil finally accepted our invitation and received quite honorable awards.
The Asian participation was led by Indonesia and Vietnam. These origins mainly presented fine Robustas as did Ivory Coast.
Given the increasing numbers of fine Robustas in our contest, must we not think of organizing some special event for these coffees?
The technical jury took place at the Parisian factory of CONTI Espresso Machine’s which also equipped AVPA’s headquarters for the session of our distinguished gastronomic jury. In the coming days, we shall invite coffee passionate to cupping sessions of awarded coffees, in connexion with producers who will be sharing their cupping experiences with us.
