RIMINI, Italy – SIGEP (Fiera di Rimini, 21-25 January 2017) will host the official announcement of the country in which the next edition will be held of Barista & Farmer, the first and only international talent show entirely dedicated to the world of coffee.
An innovative project, able to combine education and competition: launched to promote the culture of the world´s most popular bean, from the harvest on the plantations in the countries of origin, through all the stages of its processing, using the various technologies, to the experience of tasting and all the opportunities for consumption.
For ten days, ten fans of the coffee world will be able to experience the emotion of life as pickers and peasants, working on a coffee farm.
The contestants will be woken at dawn and pass the morning on the plantation, picking coffee beans, then in the afternoon they will attend the Barista & Farmer Academy, a very special multi-discipline school, at which all the lecturers are the sector´s most authoritative professionals.
Participants will have the special opportunity of receiving all-round training from the sector´s top experts on the various aspects of the complex coffee chain, by means of the Academy´s comprehensive program, which includes SCAE lessons.
At SIGEP, video coverage will be shown of the plantation that hosted the third edition of Barista & Farmer Brazil and the fourth edition of the talent show will be presented. In fact, the Brazilian experience of Barista & Farmer 2016 ended in April and was won by 32 year-old Greek barista Nikolaos Kanakaris.
The all-Italian format is based on an idea by Francesco Sanapo, multi award-winning champion barista.
