MILAN – Brazil coffee exports fell sharply in December. According to Cecafé’s monthly data, exports of all forms of coffee recorded a 17.9% drop compared to the same month of 2021 to 3,195,036 bags. Green coffee exports were 16.6% down to 2,864,638 bags of which 2.8 million of Arabica (-14.6%).
Robusta shipments nosedived to 55,490 bags compared to 143,443 bags in 2021 (-61.3%) and a record volume of 384,365 in 2020.
Sales abroad of processed coffee (mostly soluble) also fell 28.2% to 330,398 bags.
Coffee exports for calendar year 2022 fell 3.1% to 39,350,256 bags.
Green coffee exports reached a total of 35,577,553 bags or a 2.6% decrease over 2021. Arabica volumes rose 3.9% to 34,076,897 bags, whilst Robusta shipments were 60% down to about 1.5 million bags.
