MILAN — Brazil exported in 2020 a record volume of 44.5 million 60-kg bags of all forms of coffee, including green coffee, soluble and roasted & ground, according to fresh data released yesterday by the Council of Coffee Exporters of Brazil (Cecafé). This is a 9.4% increase over the pre-pandemic year. Exports earned $5.365 billion, 10.3% more than in 2019. Shipments of green coffee rose to an all-time high of 40.4 million bags of which 35.5 of Arabica and 4.9 million of Robusta, up 8.4% and 24.3% on year respectively.
Sales abroad of processed coffee were up 2.3% to 4.1 million bags.
Brazil exported a record 4.3 million bags in December, up 38.6% from the same month of 2019. Green coffee exports surged 41.8% to 3.9 million bags of which 3.5 million of Arabica (++46.3%) and 380,699 bags of Robusta (+10.1%).
