MILAN – Shipments of coffee in all forms out of Brazil totalled 2.483.057 bags in February, down 15.5% from the same month last year, the Coffee Exporters Council (Cecafé) reported last week.
The drop in shipments was attributed to slower sales by farmers who preferred to wait for better prices.
Exports of green coffee fell by 14.9% to 2,232,687 bags.
Shipments of Robusta were sharply down (-86.3%) to 9,620 bags.
Arabica exports dropped 12.0% to 2,223,067 bags. Exports of processed coffee were down 20.7% to 250,370 bags.
It should be noted that Vietnam’s shipments in February reached 2.44 million bags, according to customs data.
