WASHINGTON, U.S. – Bruvelo is a smart automated coffee maker designed with every step of the brew process in mind. From beans to cup and everything in between, it was built to do one thing really well – brew amazing coffee.
This patent pending technology is the brainchild of entrepreneur and former Microsoft engineer Dustin Sell. Being an avid coffee lover I consider myself a true “coffee geek”. Two years ago I had this ‘aha’ moment when my old coffee maker died and I was unable to find a single-cup coffee market that could rival what you’d get from a fine coffeehouse.
There are simply no single-cup coffee makers out there for those who appreciate quality coffee. So I started playing around with pumps, motors, tubing, mobile apps and created what looked like a science experiment about the size of my kitchen table.
But there it was, a fully automatic pour-over coffee maker that could grind fresh beans, handle ratios, temperatures, steep times… everything. And plus, using the mobile app you can connect it to your morning alarm, so your coffee will be ready by the time you make it to the kitchen.
After two years of refinement, a few dozen prototypes and one canceled Kickstarter campaign I have created a fully functional prototype with a sleek, modern design that’s incredibly small. It’s a product I’m truly excited about and has gained quite a following on social media. However, due to the large manufacturing and development costs, I’m limited in my ability to bring this to market. Therefore, I have taken the project to Kickstarter.
While there are other connected coffee makers on the market, there has yet to be a single-cup coffee maker created and priced specifically for the true coffee connoisseur. I wanted to create something that could brew the quality of a handcrafted pour-over, without all the hassles of weigh-scales, thermometers, timers and small enough to fit anywhere.
Bruvelo is just 3 1/2″ in diameter and 10 1/2″ tall and fits perfectly in dorm rooms, small apartments or even on your desk.
It uses a mobile app to schedule when to brew, or to adjust brew parameters such as the water temperature. But what makes Bruvelo even more unique is its ability to balance all the aspects of the brew process together, from grinding beans to ground-to-water ratios, all balanced with either paper or metal filters.
It’s the convenience of pods, but for those who truly love and can appreciate a fine handcrafted cup of coffee.
