CHINA – BWT water+more is the exclusive sponsor of water treatment for the National Vocational Skills Competition in China. This event, at its third edition, is the top national competition of China’s coffee industry. Held every two years, the competition selects comprehensive highly skilled talents from all over the country, and extensively links outstanding enterprises and individuals in various industrial chains.
During the second year event, coffee chains also got involved and opened a brand division. The grand final saw the biggest names in the industry compete together in an all-time high in terms of size, popularity and influence.

The Third Yuexianhuo Cup National Barista Vocational Skills Competition, currently on tour in 2023, is the only national professional competition in the coffee industry. The competition is co-sponsored by All-China Federation of Supply and Marketing Cooperatives, Vocational Skills Appraisal Guidance Center and China Employment Training Technical Guidance Center.
Participants have had a chance to win the National Master of Technology accolade, which is currently the highest honor officially recognized in the coffee industry.
Du Hongguo, president of the Coffee branch of the China Society of Business Economics, said that despite the severe impact of the epidemic, the competition has attracted keen attention from the whole industry.
Up to now, the scale of organization and the total number of participants of this competition is far ahead of the two previous year’s competitions. Sixteen qualifying regions have been determined, which is precisely the sum of the previous two competitions put together.
The scope of the competition has been further expanded from the main coffee producing areas and the first-line coffee consumption areas such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen to Hubei, Fujian, Guizhou, Zhejiang, Shanxi, Jilin and other provinces and regions.
Two significant changes were introduced in the competition held in 2023:
– First, in order to better guide practitioners to strengthen the comprehensive ability of job fitness, the selection rule of national technical expert was adjusted from the original champion of individual single event in the final to the “triathlon” with the top three overall points of single event, which requires participants to pay special attention to.
– Second, in order to promote the establishment of an industrial chain closed loop from the coffee production area to the consumer end, let the farmers, raw bean merchants, excellent roasters, roasting factories and coffee stores take the competition as the platform and resonate with each other to create more opportunities for industrial connection and linkage. The competition added new baking competition items and linkage with the team competition.
