OAKVILLE, ON – From early morning hockey practices to weekend-long tournaments, Canada’s favourite game and Canada’s Favourite Coffee have always gone hand in hand.

Now Tim Hortons is giving Canadians the chance to have their favourite Timbits Hockey moments come to life as part of the Timbits Hockey Enters the Hockey Hall of Fame contest at the new Tim Hortons Theatre at the Hockey Hall of Fame.

From October 15, 2013, to December 9, 2013, Canadians can submit their favourite Timbits Hockey story, photo or video at www.

TimbitsHockey.ca or through the TimmyMe mobile app for a chance to win a trip for four to Toronto for a behind the scenes tour of the Hockey Hall of Fame, as well as weekly prizes of $100 Tim Cards and the chance to be featured in the new Tim Hortons Theatre in the Hockey Hall of Fame.

“Tim Hortons has a long history of supporting minor hockey in Canada and what better way to celebrate this commitment and everyone involved than by bringing Timbits Hockey to the place where the greatest moments in hockey are displayed,” says David McMullen, Vice President, Marketing, Tim Hortons.

“We look forward to having these great early memories take their place at the Hockey Hall of Fame’s Tim Hortons Theatre.”

The Tim Hortons Theatre features archival film and video footage from the Hockey Hall of Fame archives and showcases exclusive displays that pay tribute to Tim Horton and Timbits Hockey players, past and present.

“From our founder, Tim Horton, to the more than 75,000 kids who participate in Timbits Hockey each year, hockey is engrained in the Tim Hortons brand,” says McMullen.

“We are proud of our hockey history and we want to thank Canadians everywhere who helped make Timbits Hockey what it is today. Whether you’re a player, coach, parent or fan, everyone has a great Timbits Hockey moment and we can’t wait to share these memories with hockey fans.”

Canadians can share their story, photo or video on the Timbits Hockey Timeline, an online retrospective of Timbits Hockey moments past and present located at www.TimbitsHockey.ca. To make sharing easy a new Timbits Hockey Camera, built into the updated TimmyMe App, allows fans to capture and share photos and 10-second videos.

Each entry has a chance to win a trip for four to the Hockey Hall of Fame or a weekly prize of a $100 Tim Card. Submissions could also be featured in the Tim Hortons Theatre in the Hockey Hall of Fame.

People can also visit www.TimbitsHockey.ca to create a personalized virtual Timbits Hockey jersey that  can be shared through social media, or used as a desktop wallpaper or Facebook profile picture. Fans are encouraged to join the conversation on Twitter @TimHortons using #TimbitsHockey, or on Facebook at www.Facebook.com/timhortons.

About Timbits Hockey: The First Goal is Having Fun

What started as a local initiative in Moncton, New Brunswick more than 30 years ago has since supported countless Canadians as they were introduced to hockey.

Today, more than 75,000 kids participate in Timbits Hockey each year. As part of the program, Tim Hortons works with local hockey associations in communities across Canada and the U.S. to sponsor teams by providing Timbits Minor Sports jerseys, participation medals and coaching tools.

Timbits Hockey also offers a once in a lifetime opportunity to play on-ice scrimmages during intermissions at Junior, American Hockey League (AHL) and National Hockey League (NHL) games and let’s players participate in their own “Timbits Jamboree”, a fun-filled Tim Hortons sponsored event where everyone receives a prize, food and beverages.

Timbits Hockey is part of the Timbits Minor Sports Program, which is a community-oriented sponsorship program for children four to eight years old who participate in local house league sports teams. The program’s philosophy is not based on winning or losing – but on learning a new sport, making new friends, and just taking time out to be a kid.
