OAKVILLE, ON –Tim Hortons guests and restaurant owners showed off their smiles and community spirit, raising over $5.3 million in support of local charities for the annual Tim Hortons Smile Cookie campaign. For one week, Tim Hortons guests had the opportunity to purchase special chocolate chunk Smile Cookies for $1, with all proceeds supporting local community charities, hospitals and programs across Canada. Nationally, more than 500 charities are supported each year through the campaign.
“Once again Tim Hortons generous guests and restaurant owners came together and showed just how powerful a smile can be,” said David McMullen, Vice President Marketing, Canada. “Year after year, it’s amazing how the Smile Cookie campaign continues to grow, raising the much needed funds to support local communities across Canada.”
The Smile Cookie campaign started in 1996 to help raise funds for the Hamilton Children’s Hospital in Ontario and has grown to become a major fundraising event at Tim Hortons restaurants across North America. In 2013, the campaign raised more than $5 million for local communities across Canada and the United States.
