LONDON, UK – The Savoy has recently announced a new partnership with Caravan Coffee Roasters. Caravan coffee will be supplied throughout the hotel’s venues and the previous Melba site will be taken over with a brand-new coffee shop, launching officially on Monday 6th January 2020.
Both Caravan Coffee Roasters and The Savoy champion excellent provenance. Caravan is passionate about producing coffee of the highest quality in the most sustainable and ethical way possible, and this is reflected in The Savoy’s offering.
The experts at Caravan have worked closely with The Savoy team to devise an offering that is fresh and exceptional, which highlights each cup of coffee’s individual characteristics. The three chosen blends, which are served throughout the hotel include the Shora Decaf and Carte Blanche for filter coffee and The Savoy Blend for espresso or speciality coffees.
Situated on the corner of Savoy Court and The Strand, the new coffee shop, Caravan Coffee Roasters will provide customers in London’s bustling Northbank area with coffee made from the finest beans, directly sourced from single farm, speciality estates around the world.
Customers will have a choice of two espresso coffees from the Caravan range, typically one blend and one single origin, and then the option of freshly grown single origin decaf. In addition to this, there will be a choice of two filter coffees, which will rotate between a seasonal single origin filter range and the Special Bru filter blend.
A hand-brewed Geisha of a very high grade will also sit alongside the batched brewed coffees. All coffees will be available in 250g bags and can be ground to order for any home device. Examples from the menus include:
Market Blend – a signature espresso blend from El Salvador and Guatemala with notes of red apple, cooked fruit and baking spice
Daily Blend – a progressive response and reboot of the traditional classic coffee, sweet and clean with low acidity with hints of dark chocolate, toffee apple and salted caramel
Single Origin Decaf – produced by the Shora community from the Satipo province of Junín, Peru, this coffee has strong notes of milk chocolate with a mild apple acidity, that becomes a rich dark chocolate with a dried fruit note when decaffeinated and roasted for espresso
Maira Ramirez – a filter offering grown by a female producer in Huehuetenango, Guatemala, that has undertones of sweet strawberry, tinned peach, butterscotch and white chocolate
Musa Aba Lulesa – a complex and intriguing blend from Ethiopia with floral and citric notes of sweet orange, lychee and cola
In addition to coffee-to-go, the menu includes a new selection of fresh juices, freshly baked sourdough breads, pastries and bagels.
Anne Lomas, The Savoy’s Director of Restaurants comments: ‘We are extremely excited to have launched this partnership with the award-winning Caravan Coffee Roasters. Set to elevate the hotel’s coffee offering throughout all eight venues*, the new collaboration will solidify The Savoy as serving the leading premium coffee in London’.
