BERLIN, Germany – One bean – 1,000 aromas: experience all the flavours of coffee in full bloom at the Coffee Convent Berlin. On 10 and 11 October 2017, the new format will enrich the Bar Convent Berlin, Europe’s leading trade event for the bar and beverage industry. Roasters and equipment manufacturers will be on hand in Hall 7.3 at Station Berlin to educate trade visitors on the latest coffee trends.

Coffee trends for bartenders and baristas

Coffee for bars –  the BCB has been exploring this topic for two years already. “We laid the foundation with the Coffee Stage”, says BCB director Petra Lassahn. “And interest has become so strong that it was time to carve out a dedicated space for the versatile bean.” Big names like Corsini Corsino and Luigi Lavazza Deutschland will be at the premiere of the Coffee Convent Berlin, as will exciting newcomers – including Black & White, Caté goods and Röststätte Berlin. They’ll put on display the wide-ranging uses of coffee, which bartenders can prepare to serve as a source of acid, aroma component, filler, syrup, bitter or, of course, by itself as a classic hot beverage.

Coffee know-how by and for experts

Complementing the exhibitors’ offerings will be an informative stage programme hosted by the Coffee Convent Berlin in cooperation with Luigi Lavazza Deutschland. At the central Coffee Stage, such renowned coffee experts as the Worldwide Champion of Coffee Roasters, Erick Brockholz, barista trainer Paul Kaiser, bar master Kingston Bernhard and many more will share their first-hand knowledge. Topics include coffee trends for the restaurant scene, “Coffee quality: The long way to enjoyment”, and the booming world of coffee cocktails. In keeping with BCB tradition, tastings are of course included.

The stand of speciality coffee roaster Röststätte Berlin (Hall 7.3, Stand Cf07) will see company founder Ivo Weller, a certified coffee sommelier, and Nicole Battefeld, the company’s head barista and runner-up at the German Barista Championship 2016, providing information and consultations. They’ll talk about how to prepare well-balanced espresso, present good coffee for bars, offer tastings with the season’s best filter coffees and introduce various brewing methods including the coffee syphon. Plus, they’ll unveil and sample a coffee liqueur developed by Röststätte Berlin in cooperation with The Curtain Club, the bar of the Ritz-Carlton Berlin, and the rum brand Ron Zacapa.

Coffee Convent: Tickets only available online

The Bar Convent Berlin, and thus also the Coffee Convent Berlin, are events exclusively for industry professionals. That’s why tickets are only sold online – there will be no onsite ticket sales. One-day tickets are priced at €40; event passes for both show days are €65. Due to the popularity of the trade show, we would recommend booking tickets early by visiting https://www.barconvent.com/tickets.
