Coffee exports from India surged 7.22 percent in April, according to the Coffee Board. The country shipped 31,060 tonnes compared to 28,966 tonnes of coffee in the same period last year, the autonomous governmental body said in its latest report. Italy, Germany, Turkey, Russian Federation and Belgium were the main markets for Indian coffee.
“The volumes of exports have increased, but value realisation has come down due to weak global prices,” a senior Board official said.
According to Coffee Board’s data, export value realisation per tonne in the period under review was down 3.2 percent on year to Rs 164,078.56 per tonne (US$2,588).
