MILAN – Coffee exports from Uganda, Africa largest exporter of the commodity, reached 476,000 60-kg bags in February 2020 up 46.5% from the same month last year. Earnings rose to $46.7m compared to $32.5m in February 2019, according to figures provided by the Uganda Coffee Development Authority (UCDA).
According to the report, a total of 388,646 bags of Robusta coffee were shipped out of the country up from the 261,526 kilogramme bags during the same time last year.
“There was a 48.6 per cent increase in volume and a 43% increase in revenue earned from the exportation of Robusta coffee from Uganda,” the UCDA says in a report.
Arabica coffee volumes registered a 36% increase to 84,384 bags from 61,656 bags last year.
