MILAN – Coffee prices closed mixed on Tuesday. New York posted further losses on speculative selling. The most active contract for September delivery ended the day at $1.4125 per lb, down 1.5 percent from Monday.
Trading was initially upbeat with the benchmark contract matching recent highs of 145.75 cents.
But the inability to break above Monday’s peaks put the market under pressure triggering speculative selling and pushed prices down despite a stronger real.
