A cup of coffee or hotel room is more expensive in Seoul than in any other city around the world, a survey shows. Booking site Hotels.com conducted a survey of food prices in 840 locations at 30 three- to five-star hotels in 28 countries.
Items included coffee, a glass of house wine, a club sandwich and a hamburger. Hotels in Seoul charged W10,770 (US$9.6) for a cup of coffee on average, over six times more than the cheapest W1,740 in Bogota, Colombia.
A glass of house wine cost W15,080 (US$13.4)per glass in hotels in Seoul, the second most expensive after Singapore. A club sandwich was most expensive at US$30.2 in Geneva, Switzerland, while Seoul ranked seventh at W22,270 (US$19.8).
The cost of all the surveyed items together was the highest in Geneva. Seoul came sixth.
