BOGOTA, Colombia – In February, coffee production in Colombia, the world’s largest producer of mild washed Arabica, slightly exceeded one million bags, down 9% from the 1.1 million bags in February 2019, according to data provided by the National Federation of Coffee Growers.
So far this year, 2 million 51.000 bags were produced, 15% down from the 2.4 million bags produced in the first two months of 2019.
In the last 12 months, production exceeded 14.4 million bags, 6% up from the 13.6 million bags produced in the same previous period.
So far this coffee year (October 2019-February 2020), production exceeds 6.6 million bags, 9% more than the nearly 6.1 million bags produced in the same previous period.
Coffee exports from Colombia grow 3% in last 12 months
In the last 12 months, coffee exports rose 3% to over 13.4 million bags of 60 kg compared to the just over 13 million bags exported in the same previous period.
In February, Colombian coffee exports fell 13% to 1.1 million bags of 60 kg from the 1.2 million bags sold abroad in the same month of 2019.
Year-to-date coffee exports fell 11% to 2.1 million bags from the 2.4 million bags exported in the first two months of 2019.
So far this coffee year, exports fell slightly, 1%, compared to coffee exports in the same previous period.
