BOGOTÁ, Colombia – In May, and as the coffee institutions had been warning as a result of blockades, Colombian coffee exports fell 52% to 427,000 60-kg bags from the 894,000 bags exported in the same month of 2020.
However, so far this year, coffee exports grow 7% to over 4.9 million 60-kg bags from the 4.6 million bags exported in the first five months of 2020.
In the last 12 months, coffee exports remained practically unchanged, and so far this coffee year, they have grown 2% to almost 8.6 million bags from the almost 8.4 million bags a year earlier.
Since monthly registered coffee production is calculated based on demand, this time, considering that it would not reflect real production – given the substantial changes in the variables – the figure is not published.
