BOGOTÁ, Colombia — With one million 188,000 bags, Colombian coffee production increased 32% in May compared to the 901,000 bags harvested in the same month of 2017.
So far this year, coffee harvest exceeded 5.4 million bags, 2% up from the over 5.3 million registered during the first five months of 2017.
In the last 12 months (June 2017-May 2018), coffee production exceeded 14.3 million bags, 1% up from the almost 14.2 million registered in the same previous period.
And so far this coffee year (October 2017-May 2018), production was almost 9.4 million bags, 3% down compared to almost 9.7 million recorded in the same period.
Exports rise 15% in May
In May, Colombian coffee exports exceeded 961,000 60kg bags, 15% up from the almost 834,000 bags exported in the same month of 2017.
Between January and May 2018, Colombia exported over 5 million bags, 4% down from the over 5.2 million bags sold abroad during the first five months of 2017.
In the last 12 months (June 2017-May 2018), exports reached almost 12.8 million bags, 1% less compared to the over 12.9 million bags registered in the same previous period.
And so far this coffee year (October 2017-May 2018), Colombia exported over 8.5 million bags, 8% down from the over 9.2 million bags exported in the same previous period.
