BOGOTÁ, Colombia – In March, Colombian coffee production was 914,000 60-kg bags of green coffee, down 13% from almost 1.1 million bags produced in the same month of 2021, reports the National Federation of Coffee Growers of Colombia (FNC). This figure is a result of difficult weather conditions, especially heavy rains, and the fact that March historically is a month of not very large harvests.

So far this year (January-March), production exceeded 2.7 million bags, down 16% from the 3.2 million bags produced in the same previous period.

In the last 12 months (April 2021-March 2022), recorded production also fell 16% to 12 million 60-kg bags from almost 14.3 million bags harvested a year ago.

And in the coffee year (October 2021-March 2022), production exceeded 6.2 million bags, down 18% from the almost 7.6 million produced in the same previous period

Colombian Exports fall 1% in March

In March, Colombian coffee exports fell slightly, 1%, to 1,121,000 bags of coffee compared to 1,128,000 sold abroad in the same month of 2021.

So far this year, coffee exports exceeded 3.1 million 60-kg bags, down 10% from the almost 3.5 million exported a year earlier.

In the last 12 months (April 2021- March 2022), coffee exports fell 6%, to 12.1 million bags, compared to almost 13 million bags exported in the same previous period.

In the coffee year (October 2021–March 2022), coffee exports exceeded 6.4 million 60-kg bags, down 10% from the 7.1 million bags exported a year earlier.
