BOGOTÁ, Colombia – In January, registered coffee production in Colombia, the world’s largest producer of mild washed Arabica, was 868,000 60-kg bags of green coffee, down 20%, mainly due to unfavorable weather conditions, from almost 1.1 million bags produced in January 2021.
So far this coffee year (October 2021-January 2022), production reaches 4.4 million bags, down 19% from the over 5.4 million bags produced in the same previous period.
And in the last 12 months (February 2021-January 2022), production fell 11% to almost 12.4 million 60-kg bags from over 13.9 million bags a year earlier.
Exports fall 1% in January
In January, Colombian coffee exports fell slightly, 1%, to 1,063,000 bags of 60 kg of green coffee from 1,072,000 bags exported in January 2021.
In the last 12 months (February 2021-January 2022), exports fell also 1% to 12.4 million bags from over 12.5 million bags exported a year earlier.
And in the coffee year (October 2021-January 2022), coffee exports are close to 4.4 million 60-kg bags, down 8% from the 4.7 million bags exported a year earlier.
