Colombian Federation reports increase in output, lower exports in June

BOGOTÁ, Colombia — Colombian coffee production increased 3.6% in June to 1,087,000 baggs compared to  1,049,000 bags in the same month of 2017, according to  Colombia’s National Federation of Coffee Growers (Fnc).

So far this year, coffee harvest exceeded 6.5 million bags, a 2.5% increase from the almost 6.4 million registered during the first half of 2017.

In the last 12 months (July 2017-June 2018) coffee production exceeded 14.3 million bags, 2% up from to the almost 14.1 million registered in the same previous period.

And so far this coffee year (October 2017-June 2018), production was almost 10.5 million bags, 2.6% down from the over 10.7 million bags recorded in the same previous period.

Exports fall 4.3%

In June, Colombian coffee exports exceeded 906,000 bags, 4.3% down from the almost 947,000 bags exported in the same month of 2017.

In the first half of 2018, Colombia exported almost 6 million bags, 3.1% down from the almost 6.2 million bags sold abroad during the first six months of 2017.

In the last 12 months (July 2017-June 2018), coffee exports reached 12.8 million bags, 1.2% down from over 12.9 million bags recorded in the same previous period.

And so far this coffee year (October 2017-June 2018), Colombia exported almost 9.5 million bags, 6.8% down from the almost 10.2 million bags exported in the same previous period.
