MILAN – It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing away of Flavio Urizzi, a former export manager for CMA. He lived in Monfalcone (Gorizia, Northern Italy), where he had retired last year after a life of work.
He would have been 68 years old in August. Flavio was a soul of Astoria for years and significantly contributed with his work to the growth and internationalisation of the company.
Competent and dedicated, he was a pioneer in disseminating the culture of high quality espresso and eventually became one of the most influential personalities in the coffee business.
Everyone in the coffee community has probably had the chance to have a chat with him on a cup of coffee or watch one of his involving lectures or presentations.
Those who had the privilege to get to know him and appreciate his human and professional qualities will always remember him.
His premature death leaves a void that no one can fill and leaves us without a colleague and a friend with a great sense of humour, who was always available for advice.
A man who knew the world and loved life and coffee above all.
In this video from 2016, Flavio Urizzi describes #TheCoffeeRoad a project with China in its sights, aiming at consolidating an already strong tie that has for over two decades been linking this Italian company, leader in the manufacture of quality professional espresso coffee machines, to one of the most fascinating and certainly most powerful countries in Asia.
