MILAN – In its third survey this year, Brazil’s government agency Conab raised on Monday its forecast for 2018/19 coffee crops to a record 59.9 million 60-kg bags, citing bountiful yields. This is 33.2% more than in the previous crop year.
Arabica production should reach 45.9 million bags, up 34.1% on year, due to an “on-year” in the country’s typical biennial pattern as well as to better investments and crop management.
Robusta’s forecast was revised slightly higher to 13.9 million bags, up 30.3% on year.
Total area
The total area planted with coffee is seen by Conab down by 2.3% to 2,156,419 ha.
