LONDON, United Kingdom – Costa Coffee has once again swept UK consumers off their feet as it’s crowned the nation’s favourite coffee shop for the 14th year in a row. In an annual Allegra World Coffee Portal survey of more than 5,000 UK coffee shop consumers, over half (51.6%) named Costa Coffee as their favourite coffee chain.
This remarkable achievement is a testament to Costa Coffee’s commitment to innovation in the coffee sector by creating new experiences for consumers, ever-evolving coffee shop propositions alongside innovative food and beverages menu.

Commenting on the accolade, Allegra Group Founder and CEO, Jeffrey Young said: “Costa Coffee is a formidable brand with an incredibly strong presence on UK high streets. There’s no doubt that Costa is the favourite spot for UK consumers to grab a coffee – as demonstrated by its enduring appeal over the last 14 years.”
Testament to its commitment to quality, service and innovation throughout 2023, Costa Coffee launched new menu ranges and campaigns.
Last Summer, Costa Coffee made waves by becoming the first major UK coffee chain to introduce a range of ‘Bubble’ drinks, and a plant-based Ready-To-Drink Oat Latte, available in a multi-serve 750ml format.
Last July, Costa Coffee unveiled ‘Treat Drop’, a new reward proposition available on the Costa Club app. Loyalty members now benefit from even more rewards, exclusive discounts and early access to new drinks or returning favourites. The Nation’s Favourite Coffee Shop also launched a new store improvement and design programme last year, installing new features such a touchscreen and table ordering at revamped stores, including Plymouth and Dorchester.
In-store fundraising for the Costa Foundation hit an incredible £1 million during 2023 thanks to the hard work of Costa Coffee’s store teams through their fundraising initiatives.
The money goes towards building schools to improve the life chances of children in coffee growing communities by providing the opportunity of a safe, quality education. Closer to home, Costa Coffee was once again a joint Headline Partner of Macmillan’s Coffee Morning, raising money to support the charity’s crucial work helping people living with cancer and their family and friends.
Nick Orrin, Managing Director of UK&I, Costa Coffee, said: “Not only does February 14th traditionally symbolise a day of love, but it also marks the fourteenth consecutive year that Costa Coffee has captured the nation’s hearts, being crowned the Nation’s Favourite Coffee Shop once again. This achievement is a testament not only to our valued consumers, but also to our talented baristas and the continued support of our partners, suppliers and franchisees”.
Nick Orrin continues: “2023 was an extraordinary year for Costa Coffee, marked by significant investments in our UK business across our stores, Costa Express machines, and business-to-business propositions. We also introduced exciting initiatives such as the new reward programme for Costa Club members – Treat Drop, as well as launching innovative new food and drink products. We look forward to another year of crafting new experiences for our customers.”
