ROME, Italy – Avolta AG, the leading global travel experience player, has opened the first Costa Coffee retail store in Italy at Fiumicino Airport. The store opening marks an important collaboration between Costa Coffee and Avolta: bringing the Costa Coffee brand into a new territory further signifies Avolta’s commitment to diversifying and broadening its retail offer, investing specifically in Fiumicino.

Founded in 1971 by two Italian brothers, Bruno and Sergio Costa, this is the first time Costa Coffee, which operates in over 50 countries, has entered the Italian market, serving its Signature Blend, which took the Italian brothers 112 attempts to perfect.

The retail store is located in the non-Schengen zone, within Fiumicino Airport, an important gateway to Italy. It will offer an uplifting environment for travellers to sample a range of Costa’s coffees alongside locally sourced artisanal delicacies, to celebrate Italian excellences, serving a menu designed to inspire transit travelers and ensure fresh, high quality food on-the-go.

“We are very pleased to partner with Costa Coffee, a top player of international scope, which demonstrates our commitment to continually renewing our offer and leveraging our global partnerships to offer travelers an unparalleled experience,” commented Massimiliano Santoro, CEO Italy F&B of Avolta. “A special thanks to Aeroporti di Roma, host of the new venue where we further enrich our presence in the most important airport in Italy, where we interact with a large number of travelers daily, offering them solutions that meet every need, taste and trend.”

The store’s official opening offered travelers the chance to sample some of Costa Coffee’s food and drink and enjoy a Latte Art Show, with baristas showcasing their talent, passion and flare for serving a perfectly hand-crafted cup of coffee, complete with Latte art.

Sam O’Brien, Managing Director EMENA of Costa Coffee said: “The opening of our first store in Italy is very exciting. It was the Costa brothers love of Italian coffee and an inability to find it in their new home, England, that led to the birth of Costa Coffee. Their entrepreneurial spirit and Italian heritage continues to inspires us every day to reimagine new coffee experiences for coffee fans all around the world. We’re delighted to partner with Avolta, in Fiumicino, to fuel customers as they travel to and from Italy, sharing our Italian heritage with new consumers.”

“We are proud and excited to welcome the opening of Italy’s first Costa Coffee at Fiumicino airport. This is a further step in ADR’s wider vision and path of continuous evolution towards an increasingly passenger-oriented approach, which involves expanding the breadth of the commercial offer. Thanks to Avolta for having identified such an excellent solution in response to the needs of the airport’s non-Schengen passengers,” said Marilena Blasi, ADR Chief Commercial Officer. “Costa Coffee is a valuable addition to the portfolio of F&B brands at Fiumicino Airport, providing passengers with a unique experience and strengthening the role of the airport as a place to live and enjoy.”

The menu available in store has been designed to meet the needs of travelers in transit at Fiumicino. Whilst Costa’s famous Signature Bend coffees are at the heart of the menu, including a classic Italian espresso and cappuccinos a wide and diverse choice of hot and cold beverages are also available, including plant-based offerings. Products are offered in multiple formats to be enjoyed in store or on-the-go and are a true mix of flavours designed to satisfy the tastes and needs of all consumers.

In addition to an extensive beverage offering, the new store also offers a selection of pastries, such as croissants, cakes, and muffins, and savoury items, such as wraps, sandwiches, and bagels. A menu designed to inspire transit travelers and showcase the very best Costa Coffee has to offer.
