LONDON, UK – Costa Coffee has reopened at Southampton Airport today under the management of new operator WHSmith, after being closed for 17 months due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The airport said Costa, like other retail partners, is operating with effective safety measures in-store so passengers can visit safely.

WHSmith has introduced the use of recyclable disposable cups in the café, as part of the retailer’s commitment to sustainability.

Southampton Airport Commercial Manager Gemma Young said: “We have been working hard at the airport with our business partners and are delighted to see Costa Coffee open after 17 months.

“Our recovery from the pandemic will take longer but we are determined that our passengers will have more choice throughout our airport while maintaining their safety.

“We continue to support all our business partners with their reopening plans at our terminal.

“Everyone has been working non-stop and I want to thank every business at Southampton Airport for their hard work and dedication.”

WHSmith Business Development Director Spencer Sheen said: “We’re delighted to be partnering with Costa Coffee to operate and reopen this retail offer for customers in Southampton Airport.

“As a key franchise partner for the nation’s favourite coffee shop brand, we look forward to welcoming customers to the Costa store with a great range of hot and cold beverages and food and a welcome space to relax.”

Other stores now reopened at Southampton Airport include World Duty Free and WHSmith. The Spitfire Lounge has also recommenced operations.
