DUBAI, UAE – Costa Coffee has successfully tested its drone delivery service in Dubai. The Coffee-Copter, as it has been dubbed, was trialled for one day at Costa’s Jumeirah Beach Road drive through store and provided locals with the chance to order one of the coffee house’s various drinks.
Orders were made by phone and delivered to beach-goers with 15 minutes, according to the coffeehouse company.
The refreshments were sent straight to customers using Costa’s specially engineered drone.
“Dubai is known for leading the way with innovative technology and drones are the next frontier for instant delivery,” said Shemaine Jones, head of marketing at Costa Coffee UAE.
“Our customers told us they’d love to have their favourite drinks dropped off by drones, so we’re super excited to have successfully tested this service, enabling beach-goers o enjoy ice-cold beverages without leaving the comfort of their sun loungers.”
The drone trial took place after 82 percent of Costa’s UAE customers said they would like to use a drone to deliver food and beverages directly to them.
