MILAN – Costa Express, Costa Coffee’s chain of on-the-go self-service machines, has selected Relex to optimize their supply chain for more than 10,000 machines across the UK and Europe and support the company’s ambitious growth plans. In partnering with Relex, Costa Express will improve their offering of fresh coffee products with the aim to increase availability and optimize inventory levels.
Costa Express needed supply chain optimization software that was capable of supporting the fast scale of growth they are currently experiencing. They chose Relex as their partner on this journey because of the software company’s vast experience in fresh product optimization, its superior data processing speed, and its ability to manage multiple locations and time zones.
The coffee giant wanted the ability to forecast ingredients for each individual machine based on their Bill of Materials (BOM), including coffee beans, syrup, chocolate and cups. Using Relex’s advanced machine learning, Costa Express will be able to easily and accurately forecast and replenish individual ingredients for each machine. This will ensure that the freshest product is always available for their customers.
“Our relationship with Relex is a critical element of our mission to offer the highest quality of coffee products,” said Phil Scully, CIO at Costa Coffee. “Relex’s supply chain optimization helps us provide our customers with the freshest possible ingredients while maximising availability for each machine in our network.”
“We’re extremely proud to help Costa Express in delivering a high-class coffee experience to their customers,” said Paul Cowley, Sales Director at Relex Solutions. “Our breadth of experience with fresh product optimization is a perfect match for Costa Express’s long-term goals. We’re confident we can ensure that their machines are always stocked with fresh ingredients that will meet their customer’s high expectations for quality.”
