PENSACOLA, FL, USA – Keens Beans, a boutique organic coffee bean producer totally committed to using organic and sustainable coffee farming methods to produce some of the best coffee beans available.

Keens Beans’ Costa Rican farm annually produces a small quantity of select, shade grown, organic Arabica beans for shipment to roasters in the United States.

Keens Beans farms organic Arabica coffee in the highlands of Costa Rica, just below the cloud forest with plants as much as thirty-five years old.

Their cultivar Arabica is known worldwide for its superb taste, low acidity and moderate caffeine. Having worked diligently to optimize their growing processes; unfortunately mother nature will have the final say. Here is what the owners of Keens Beans have to say.

“For the past two years, we have been watching a fungus that we call “la roya”, but the world refers to as leaf rust, advance northward.

Roya has been creating havoc in the coffee world for over one hundred and fifty years. It seems to have started in Southeast Asia and has slowly but steadily advanced to coffee growing regions around the world. It Arrived in Brazil about fifty years ago and now it’s our turn to deal with it.”

“Our particular problem is the fact that our farm is all organic. We do not have the option of using a fungicide to help control the problem. Ironically, our government is allocating four million dollars to subsidize the application of fungicide. Many people in the industry believe that this may be the “end of organic coffee”.

Only around eight percent of Costa Ricas total coffee production is now organic. As I write this, our farm has not been significantly impacted. We are slightly isolated by the surrounding mountains. The reality is probably a slight decrease in production this season and as much as a 30% smaller yield next season. So I’m urging our customers to order today while supplies last “

Keens Beans coffee roasting facility is located and headquartered in the historic city of Pensacola, Florida. Local vendors sell Keens Beans roast coffee throughout northwest Florida and southeastern Alabama.

People who live or visit the area, including Pensacola, Perdido Key, Gulf Breeze, Pace, Milton, Century, Navarre, Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, Destin, or Fort Walton Beach, can pick up some freshly roasted coffee beans in person through one of their vendors, or purchase their fine coffee online for the ultimate convenience.

They ship gourmet coffee beans and organic coffee products anywhere in the United States. Whole bean coffee is freshly roasted in Pensacola, Florida, and shipped immediately.
