MILAN, Italy – Dalla Corte Espresso, a leading global producer of espresso machines, announces the upcoming World Espresso Championship. This highly anticipated event brings together world finalists of the Brewers and Barista championships from across the globe, who will compete in a knockout style competition to determine who will reign supreme as the world’s best. With a €4000 cash prize up for grabs, the competition is set to be a knockout-style event that will keep audiences on the edge of their seats.

Dalla Corte Espresso announces the second edition of the World Espresso Championship

The World Espresso Championship will take place in Athens on Sunday June 25th, the day after the World Barista and Brewers Championship finals. This marks the second edition of the event, following its successful debut after the Melbourne International Coffee Expo.

The event kicks off at 3pm at 360 Cocktail bar, a vibrant venue with an industrial-style interior and a rooftop garden serving signature cocktails and incredible coffee.

The competitors will be using the Dalla Corte Zero espresso machine with the innovative “Freestyle extraction” feature. This innovative feature allows the user to change the water flow rate during extraction to extract different aromas and organoleptic properties, resulting in a truly unique espresso experience.

Each round sees two randomly chosen competitors simultaneously prepare espresso. With only 15 minutes to dial in their espresso, they then have 6 minutes to prepare, extract, and present four single espressos. Three of the espressos are presented to a panel of judges, while a fourth is for the competitor to taste.

The judges, with no scoresheet or formal criteria, blindly evaluate each espresso and make their own private assessment as to which is the best: on the count of three, all judges point to their preferred coffee, with the winner progressing to the next round and the loser eliminated. The grand finale will see the winner walk away with the coveted €4000 prize,

Dalla Corte extends their gratitude towards their local distributor and partner in Greece, Eurogat, for their invaluable support in making the event a success. As a media sponsor for this year’s World Espresso Championship, Perfect Daily Grind will provide extensive coverage of the event and fielding the competition will be coffee grinders from Mahlkönig, while coffee by Wisecup will fuel the competitors’ efforts. Puq Press and BWT will lend their support to ensure that the event runs smoothly and efficiently.
