TRIESTE, Italy – Demus commitment to sustainability continues. Demus, a Trieste-based company active since 1962 in the green coffee decaffeination market, has obtained ISO 50001 certification for its power system from DNV, a world-leading third-party entity that provides certification, verification and risks management services.
The ISO 50001 certification
Having an Energy Management System Certification allows to increase the control over consumption for the continuous improvement of energy performance and the reduction of environmental impacts.
The release of the certification follows a rigorous verification, monitoring, evaluation and analysis process by DNV, which has certified the compliance of the Demus Energy Management System with all the requirements set by the standard.
Massimo Alvaro, Managing Director of Business Assurance Italia for DNV explains: “The Demus Energy Management System has successfully passed the audit, resulting in ensuring efficient energy management throughout the production cycle. An aspect that is more important than ever today, in line with the needs of the market and the community, also with a view to reducing the impact on natural resources. The recognition is part of the broader path undertaken by the company starting in 1999 with the ISO 9001 Quality certification, followed by the ISO 14001 Environmental certification in 2010, by the OHSAS 18001 Occupational Health and Safety certification (current ISO 45001) in 2016 and by the certification for Hygiene and Food Safety – FSSC 22000 in 2020.
