TRIESTE, Italy – Demus Spa has just been found compliant with the International Standard OHSAS 18001 Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Specification after a thorough examination by DNV GL.
With this certification, Demus Spa ensures adherence to the requirements of the Management System of Health and Safety at Work and voluntarily conforms to the British Standards Institution model.
OHSAS 18001 comes as the most recent certification in a path that has seen Demus Spa already obtaining ISO 9001 Quality Management System and ISO 14001 Enviromental Management System certifications in the previous years.
As for the mother company Demus, also Demus Lab follows the same philosophy, already being certified both ISO 9000 (Quality) and ISO 17025 (ILAC accreditation).
Achieving OHSAS 18001 certification highlights the attention already manifested by Demus Spa for a Total Quality strategy and confirms its focus on continuous improvement of high standard product and processes.
About Demus
Demus has been decaffeinating and dewaxing green coffee and producing unrefined, natural caffeine since 1962. The plant is located in the industrial zone of the port of Trieste (Italy), one of the most important terminals in the sector in Europe.
The company is well rooted in the local manufacturing sector, and is an active member of Trieste Coffee Cluster S.r.l., an agency that works to develop the Coffee Industrial District, promoting excellence in both production and services in the sector.
Demus has developed considerably over the years.
This has been achieved thanks to its constant investment both in research (the company holds various industrial patents and has had several studies published in leading industry journals) and in constantly expanding its knowledge concerning decaffeination methods, as well as the company’s focus on the latest market trends – quality, environmental issues and safety.
These strengths have led the company towards Total Quality Management, helping Demus to grow and attain a considerable market share, and to expand its business far beyond Italy.
