DENVER, U.S. – Deviation Distilling, located in Denver’s Santa Fe Arts District, has launched a new brand: Barista Spirits. Barista Spirits is a line of three coffee-inspired whiskies, marking its first departure away from its signature gin line.
The brand consists of three whiskies: Americano Whiskey (a bourbon whiskey paired with Guatemalan coffee beans), Aztec Whiskey (a rye whiskey paired with Ethopian coffee, Saigon cinnamon and Madagascar vanilla beans) and Mocha Whiskey (paired with Brazilian coffee and chocolate).
For Barista Spirits, Deviation partnered with local purveyors, using barrels from Oskar Blues and cacao shells from Cultura Chocolate in its Mocha Whiskey. Each of the three whiskies is made with hand selected and roasted coffee from Copper Door Coffee Roasters, the next door neighbor of the distillery.
“We have been wanting to release a brown spirit for quite some time, and made the plunge by bucking the trend of needing to release a non-flavored whiskey before a flavored whiskey,” said Deviation Distilling co-owner and founder Bob Wiley. “Once we reopen our cocktail lounge, we’re looking forward to using the trio in our line of Irish coffee and White Russians, signature cocktails, and straight up pours.”
Deviation Distilling’s Barista Spirits cocktail menu includes the Guat-A-Quat featuring Americano Whiskey, muddled kumquats and cardamom bitters and Barista-vardier with Aztec Whiskey, housemade campari and housemade vermouth.
In honor of National Bourbon Day, Deviation Distilling has released its recipe for Brown Sugar Irish Coffee using Barista Americano Whiskey.
