MILAN – The Gehrig Twins, ambassadors for La Marzocco Home, competed last weekend in the beautiful Italian peaks of Canazei, an Unesco world natural heritage site in the Dolomites area. On this occasion, Anita & Caro Gehrig threw an onsite event, fueling the entire international cycling team, fans and locals with cappuccino-and-croissant-based breakfast.

Here is the story they shared

We were literally in the thick of the heat in Canazei, which marked the halfway round of the 2019 Enduro World Series. With the brutal heatwave that hit Europe even up in the Dolomite Alps the warm temperatures challenged us riders and lucky there was some cold rivers that helped us keep a cool head!

Anita successfully returned to racing after she sustained a broken hand in Madeira. The long descents definitely challenged her grip strenght but lucky she managed to hold on and steer the rig down the trails! With a 9th place in her comeback race she is on pace to do even better this coming weekend. Caro had a slow start in the race with three crashes in the first stage but was gaining speed & confidence stage after stage and finished 16th respectively.

Racing the past two Superenduro I was already familiar with this stunning place in the dolomites. Insane backdrops and great trails greeted us once again. Since I broke my hand at the last EWS in Madeira I had very little preparation time on my mountainbike.

With the very long and straight forward stages I could not quite hide my lack of grip strenght, regardless I’m happy I could score a top ten result. My feeling on the bike is good and now we only need some strenght back. Already excited for the next round in Les Orres France in less then a weeks time.” – Anita Gehrig

Win train with epic views

I was super excited to get back to Canazei as I just love the big descents and amazing single trails in the Alps. That’s the kind of riding I feel the most home at and enjoy the most of all! I had a great feeling in practice and felt on pace and ready for the race!

With three crashes in the first stage I had not quite an ideal start but was back on some better pace the following stages where I could make up a lot of time.

I’ll take the positive feelings from the second part of the race heading into the race this weekend and I’m super excited on some long stages again this weekend!” – Caro Gehrig.

La Marzocco Barista Session

With the race taking place on Saturday we took the opportunity to put up a coffee gathering the morning after the race with our sponsor La Marzocco.

Everyone was super excited on the great coffee provided by fellow racer Shawn Neer/Tractioncoffee and to get their hands on a Linea Mini Machine by themselves and to just have the opportunity to hang out with everyone after the race! Huge thanks to La Marzocco for setting everything up and supporting us in everything we do!

We are already in Les Orres for the next round of the Enduro World Series. And this race looks to be an epic one as well. Two days of racing, +3000m of descending each day and long stages will test everyones stamina & skills again! Practice will kick off on Thursday and we will try to provide you some pictures already after the practice days.

On this trip we also packed our big bikes and will head to Les Gets UCI Downhill World Cup directly after EWS. Excited for this!!

Let’s go for some big alpine descents!!

Cheers from the French Alps, Caro & Anita
