Ethiopia exported 31,145 tons of coffee in July earning over US$115 million

ROME, Italy – Ethiopia has secured $115.4 million from coffee export in the first month of the new Ethiopian fiscal year that started on July 8, 2021. The earning is obtained from the sale of 31,145 tons of coffee. In its performance report, the Ethiopian Coffee and Tea Authority noted its target amount of export for the month was 21,339.8 tons of coffee, thus exceeding its target by almost 46 percent.

The amount also has shown an increase of over 46 percent compared to the same period last year, while the earning has shown a 61 percent increase.

Germany has been the top destination for Ethiopian coffee during the period, purchasing $22.86 million worth of coffee, almost 20 percent of the total earning.

The second and third top Ethiopian coffee destinations during the month have been the United States and Belgium, consecutively.

The US has purchased $17.8 million worth of Ethiopian coffee (15 percent), while Belgium bought $12.3 million worth (11 percent).

Saudi Arabia, Japan, China, South Korea, Italy, France, and Australia are also among the ten top Ethiopian coffee destinations.
