NORTHLAKE, TX, U.S. — Farmer Bros. Co. (“Farmer Brothers” or the “Company”) a national coffee roaster, wholesaler and distributor of coffee, tea and culinary products today announced that it has achieved its goal of 90% waste diversion for its roasting plants and distribution centers.
To accomplish this goal, the Company implemented ambitious recycling and composting guidelines across its three roasting plants and five distribution centers.
The enhanced efforts resulted in an approximate 80% reduction from previous years, and meeting the Zero Waste International Alliance requirements for diverting waste sent to landfills in these locations.
“Advancing sustainable business practices and reducing waste is a core business principal at Farmer Brothers,” stated Molly Laverty, Director of Sustainability.
“Achieving zero waste in our plants and distribution centers is a significant step in reaching our overall sustainability goals.”
In addition to the Company’s aggressive zero-waste-to-landfill goals, Farmer Brothers has set emissions reduction targets with the Science Based Targets Initiative and was awarded a position on the 2017 Climate A List by the Carbon Disclosure Project.
