Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life is the title of the EXPO 2015 and a main theme that will be unfolded through international meetings and events hosted both inside and outside the national pavilions, from May 1, 2015. to October 31, 2015.
Over this six-month period, Milan will become a global showcase where more than 140 participating countries.
EXPO 2015 claims to be a platform where sharing ideas and practical solutions related to nutrition, but also to sustainability, energy efficiency, water conservation and waste minimisation, and at the same time, aimed to stimulate innovative proposals by intellectuals, designers, scientists and business companies.
Expo Milano 2015 represents a new model of Universal Exposition for the 21st century.
Its innovative thematic approach pervades every aspect of the Expo, putting forward means of dealing with the problem of feeding mankind, respecting the Earth on which we live and from which we draw vital and finite resources.
In addition to the exhibitor nations, the Expo also involves international organizations, and expects to welcome over 20 million visitors to its 1.1 million square meters of exhibition area.
Located in the north-west part of Milan, the exhibition site is organized along two orthogonal axis, the Cardo and the Decumanus, and includes plazas, restaurants and spaces for events; a town within the city where shows, concerts, workshops, educational programs, conferences and exhibitions will follow one another.
