Wawa announces customer donations to assist in Hurricane Ian disaster relief effort surpassed $130,000

WAWA, PA, USA – Wawa, Inc., and The Wawa Foundation Inc., shared an update on giving efforts as part of its chain-wide, in-store crisis campaign designed to provide disaster relief assistance to those communities most affected by Hurricane Ian. Since the campaign began on October 4, customers across Wawa’s operating area have donated more than $130,000 to the American Red Cross (the “Red Cross”) through donations of $1, $3, or $5 added to their Wawa purchase at checkout.

The Wawa Foundation will be matching the first $250,000 in customer contributions to the campaign.

The campaign will run until Sunday, October 16, in all of Wawa’s more than 970 stores throughout Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, Florida and Washington, DC.

All donations made through The Wawa Foundation’s campaign will be donated to the Red Cross and will be designated specifically for Hurricane Ian disaster relief efforts

These funds will be used to help the Red Cross provide immediate and vital support to those communities suffering from the effects of Hurricane Ian.

Beyond Wawa and customer support through the Red Cross, Wawa also made a $500,000 donation to the Florida Disaster Fund to help aid in recovery efforts. The Florida Disaster Fund is the State of Florida’s official private fund established to provide financial assistance to our communities as they respond to and recover from times of emergency or disaster.
