Fairtrade is also working with financial firms, such as Swiss-based responsAbility Investments AG, to help producers access funding for farmers to combat leaf rust.

The safety net provided by the Fairtrade Minimum Price and the Fairtrade Premium are insulation so urgently needed to protect farmers from the volatility of the coffee market,” said Merling Preza, Manager of PRODECOOP, one of the largest Fairtrade coffee co-ops in Nicaragua.
