VIENNA – As airlines continually upgrade their premium class services to attract Business class passengers, some airlines have begun offering unique features to pamper their customers. Austrian Airlines’ Business class passengers are treated to an incredible in-flight coffee service that offers a selection of premium Viennese coffee specialties.

The airline serves a total of ten different specialty Viennese coffees to its premium long-haul customers including those on flights between Vienna and the United States.

Served coffee choices include typical Austrian coffee specialties such as an Einspänner (black coffee with whipped cream and powdered sugar), Wiener Melange (black coffee with milk foam & hot milk), Wiener Eiskaffee (a double espresso served with Vanilla ice cream and freshly whipped cream), and Maria Theresia (prepared from black coffee with orange liqueur)

The on-board coffee is sourced from Julius Meinl – a Vienna-based premium coffee roaster. Meinl coffees are primarily blended from the costly blue, highland grown Arabica beans.

The experience of fine Viennese coffee will begin during the long-haul flight. Guenter Hude, Austrian’s General Manager – The Americas, commented in a press release that the Meinl brand of coffee served to Australia Airlines’ passengers is the same brand they will find in renowned Austrian coffee houses and restaurants.

The coffee service as well as the tasty on-board catering is provided by Vienna based gourmet catering company DO & CO.

Austrian is a member of the Lufthansa Group and is also an Star Alliance airline, thereby giving its premium passengers access to Star Alliance, Lufthansa and SWISS airport lounges around the world.
